LOCATION:Snow Library\, 67 Main Street\, Orleans\, MA\, USA
DESCRIPTION:\nCome to a reception for the exhibit “Take Heart\,” a non-
traditional love story told through a series of images captured during the
pandemic by artists Rachael Sokolowski and Suz Karchmer. These evocative
works\, on display in January and February in Snow Library's Craine Galler
y\, invite us to embrace the enduring spirit of compassion and hope\, insp
iring us to carry that spirit forward as we navigate an uncertain future.
The reception features an artist talk that will take place starting at noo
n.\n\nOn Feb. 14\, a documentary about the "Take Heart" project will be sh
own in the gallery at noon.\n\nRachael Sokolowski is a visual artist and w
riter living in North Truro\, Massachusetts. She creates work that serves
as a collage of stories\, enriched through the addition of language. Her a
rt encourages viewers to reflect on the state of the world\, one image at
a time. Some of her projects unfold without a defined beginning or end\, e
merging naturally through a flow of moments. In this instance\, the combin
ation of hearts and journal entries coalesced into a visual poem\, capturi
ng the essence of a journey and its meaning.\n\nSuz Karchmer is a photogra
pher living in Harwich\, Massachusetts. She thrives on creativity\, curios
ity and moments of discovery. Her photos juxtapose the ordinary with the u
nexpected as she explores her photographic world through portrait\, street
\, abstract and floral photography. The hearts project was a powerful insp
iration culminating in this exhibit\; documenting her journey to find hope
in the midst of the pandemic and joy in the Outer Cape’s loving respons
 e.
